Ukraine Drone War Speed Race

Ukrainian drone expert Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov warns that Russia will soon deploy drones capable of reaching 370 mph, rendering current Ukrainian interceptor systems obsolete. As advisor to Ukraine's defense ministry, Beskrestnov says the next phase of drone warfare will focus on extreme speeds beyond current capabilities.

Russia's Geran drones, based on Iranian Shahed technology, currently fly at 115 mph for Geran-2 models and up to 200 mph for jet-powered Geran-3s. The impending Geran-5 model could reach 370 mph, according to Beskrestnov, who predicts Moscow will push the technology to evade Ukraine's cost-effective interceptor network that currently produces 1,000 drones daily.

Ukraine's interceptor drones, typically first-person-view propeller systems, are limited to around 220 mph due to their off-the-shelf construction. Beskrestnov urges manufacturers to develop interception systems for these faster strike UAVs immediately, warning that current defense investments may become worthless as Russia advances its drone technology.
