President Donald Trump's halftime show preferences have become a political flashpoint as the Super Bowl approaches. The White House revealed Trump would prefer Kid Rock over Bad Bunny and Green Day, who are set to perform at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt indicated Trump would likely watch the conservative group Turning Point USA's alternative "All American" counter-halftime show instead.

Bad Bunny and Green Day have both expressed opposition to Trump policies, making their selection controversial among conservative circles. Turning Point USA organized their competing halftime program featuring Detroit rapper Kid Rock as a patriotic alternative. Leavitt stated bluntly, "I think the president would much prefer a Kid Rock performance over Bad Bunny. I must say that."

Meanwhile, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell defended the league's choice of Bad Bunny, emphasizing the artist's understanding of the Super Bowl's unifying platform. "Bad Bunny is, and I think that was demonstrated last night, one of the great artists in the world," Goodell said. "This platform is used to unite people and to be able to bring people together with their creativity."

Leavitt also declined to pick a winner between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, though she expressed personal support for the Patriots as a New Hampshire native. The controversy highlights how entertainment choices at major sporting events have become increasingly politicized in today's divided cultural landscape.
