A federal judge has rejected preservationists' bid to halt President Trump's $400 million ballroom project at the White House, clearing the way for construction to proceed. U.S. District Judge Richard Leon declined to grant a preliminary injunction sought by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which argued the project required congressional approval.

Judge Leon stated he couldn't grant the injunction based on current arguments but allowed the preservation group to amend its complaint. The proposed 90,000-square-foot ballroom would replace the demolished East Wing and is being funded by private donors.
