A federal judge has rejected preservationists' bid to halt President Trump's $400 million ballroom project at the White House, clearing the way for construction to proceed. U.S. District Judge Richard Leon declined to grant a preliminary injunction sought by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which argued the project required congressional approval.

Judge Leon stated he couldn't grant the injunction based on current arguments but allowed the preservation group to amend its complaint. The proposed 90,000-square-foot ballroom would replace the demolished East Wing and is being funded by private donors. The Trump administration maintains the renovation follows presidential precedents and serves the public interest.

The president celebrated the ruling as "Great news for America" and noted the project is ahead of schedule and under budget. Trump previously outlined features including a "drone-free roof" and bulletproof glass, positioning the facility as a high-security venue for inaugurations and state dinners.
