Two Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo aircraft have been sold for teardown, marking the youngest A320neo airframes ever scrapped for parts. The four- and three-and-a-half-year-old jets were acquired by EirTrade Aviation in partnership with RESIDCO, an aviation and rail lessor based in Chicago.

Disassembly will occur in Goodyear, Arizona, with parts distributed through EirTrade's Dallas hub to support aircraft-on-ground requests across North and South America. The Irish aviation asset management firm estimates over 4,400 A320neos currently operate commercially with another 7,200 on order, creating substantial demand for used serviceable material (USM).

Spirit has been selling aircraft while under bankruptcy protection since August 2025 as part of its fleet reduction strategy. The carrier's decision to scrap relatively young aircraft underscores the financial pressures facing ultra-low-cost carriers and the growing market for A320neo components as this aircraft platform becomes the largest segment of the global commercial fleet.
