A San Diego family is seeking public assistance to identify a hit-and-run driver who severely injured a 22-year-old man and killed their Chihuahua on Valentine's Day. The crash occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday in the Emerald Hills neighborhood as Eduardo Ramos crossed Roswell Street with his family's 10-year-old dog, Sylinica.

Surveillance footage captured a dark-colored sedan speeding through a stop sign before striking Ramos and the dog. The impact left Ramos with severe injuries to his legs, head, and lower spine. His father, Mauricio Ramos, found his youngest son critically hurt in the roadway moments after arriving home. The family's dog died at the scene.

Ramos has undergone surgery with metal plates and screws inserted in his legs, with doctors estimating a six-month recovery period. His father recently had heart surgery himself and is now facing mounting medical bills. The family has launched an online fundraiser to help cover expenses during Eduardo's recovery. San Diego police are investigating the case and urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
