Parkway Central High School is grieving the loss of 18-year-old senior Olivia Bumbac, who died Monday night from injuries sustained in a car accident. Principal Dr. Tim McCarthy announced the tragedy Tuesday, revealing Bumbac was a passenger in a two-vehicle crash on westbound I-64.

Another student was hospitalized following the Sunday, Feb. 15 collision. The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed the fatal crash, which has deeply affected the school community. McCarthy emphasized the impact on Bumbac's friends, classmates, teachers, and others throughout the district.

The school is providing mental health resources to students, staff, and families during this difficult time. Students gathered for a vigil Tuesday night to honor Bumbac's memory. The community continues to support the Bumbac family and the injured student as they navigate this devastating loss.
