Mizzou also excelled in specific areas, ranking No. 17 for Best Online Bachelor’s Degrees for Veterans. Graduate programs also performed well, with strong showings in psychiatric mental health and nursing. The university's focus on online education began in 2016, spurred by recommendations from the Missouri Senate and House of Representatives. In 2018, $20 million was allocated for digital learning initiatives.

The rankings are based on factors including engagement, services, technology, faculty credentials, and peer assessment. Mizzou Online offers over 185 degrees and certificates. This commitment to online learning is crucial as higher education adapts to meet evolving student needs. The university's President, Mun Choi, emphasized their dedication to providing exceptional online education.
