Hallie Marie Tobler, 22, was found dead from multiple stab wounds in a St. Cloud apartment over the weekend. Her husband, 23, remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries that investigators believe were self-inflicted. Police say he will face homicide charges upon discharge from the hospital.

Tobler was the daughter of Jeff Johnson, a Republican candidate for Minnesota governor. Johnson has suspended his campaign following the tragedy, with the Minnesota GOP citing the need to respect his family during this devastating loss. The St. Cloud Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. Saturday when officers responded to a medical emergency at an apartment building on 40th Avenue South. Johnson previously served eight years on the St. Cloud City Council and ran for Stearns County commissioner in 2020. The Minnesota GOP expressed condolences, calling the loss of a child 'unimaginable.'
