Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and Sen. Josh Hawley engaged in a heated Senate hearing exchange over fraud allegations tied to Feeding Our Futures. The confrontation erupted when Hawley accused Ellison of criminal activity and demanded his resignation, while Ellison denied wrongdoing and challenged the senator to take action.

Hawley focused on reports that Ellison's campaign received $10,000 from the group convicted of defrauding a federal child nutrition program of $250 million during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Missouri senator suggested the contribution represented quid pro quo and called for Ellison's indictment. Ellison countered that he never took money directly from the group to aid any investigation.

The tense back-and-forth included Hawley warning Ellison "It's my hearing, pal!" and Ellison retorting "I'm not your pal. Don't call me pal!" Hawley escalated by saying "I should call you 'prisoner' because you should be in jail," to which Ellison defiantly replied "Well, see what you can do about it." The hearing ended with both men demanding each other's resignation.
