Maxwell Fights Epstein Document Release

Ghislaine Maxwell's legal team has filed court papers challenging the constitutionality of a new federal law requiring the release of millions of Epstein-related documents. The lawyers argue that the Epstein Files Transparency Act violates the separation of powers doctrine by stripping courts of their authority to protect sealed records.

The documents in question include over 30 deposition transcripts and private financial and sexual information from a decade-old defamation lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre against Maxwell. Maxwell's attorneys claim the Justice Department improperly obtained these records during their criminal investigation and that the law passed by Congress in December unconstitutionally intrudes on judicial power.

This legal battle comes amid ongoing controversy over the release of Epstein-related materials. Victims have complained about their personal information being exposed while their abusers' names remain redacted. The dispute highlights the tension between public transparency and privacy rights in high-profile cases involving sexual abuse allegations against powerful figures.
