Brian McGinnis, a 44-year-old Iraq War veteran and Senate candidate, had his arm broken during a Capitol protest against U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran. The incident occurred Wednesday when McGinnis, wearing Marine dress blues, interrupted a Senate Armed Services Subcommittee hearing to condemn military action.

As Capitol Police attempted to remove McGinnis, his arm became wedged in a door frame. Sen. Tim Sheehy, a Montana Republican and former Navy SEAL, joined the struggle and grabbed at McGinnis's arm, resulting in a loud snap captured on viral video footage. McGinnis was hospitalized and now faces charges including assaulting a police officer.

The protest stemmed from McGinnis's evolving views on Middle East politics, influenced by his Palestinian wife and aid work in Gaza. His mother revealed he began questioning his Iraq deployment after returning home, eventually marrying Hamadee and having four children. A GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $65,000 for his medical expenses.
