New details have emerged about Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's alleged relationship with Corey Lewandowski and their controversial plane incident. Initial reports claimed Lewandowski demanded a pilot return to retrieve Noem's heated blanket, but sources now say the real trigger was a mystery bag.

According to The Daily Mail, three DHS insiders revealed the blanket story was a cover for what was left behind. Lewandowski reportedly discovered at least two people knew the contents of Noem's bag, which could be embarrassing. The incident occurred on a U.S. Coast Guard plane in May 2024 when their original aircraft broke down.

Lewandowski threatened to fire the flight crew and attempted to dismiss the pilot before relenting when told someone else would need to fly the plane. The pilot, Keith Thomas, was later promoted to DHS senior adviser. Noem's aide Kamryn Jones received a Legion of Merit medal from the secretary. Lewandowski, serving as Noem's de facto chief of staff despite being classified as a special government employee limited to 130 days annually, has not commented on entering the cockpit. The incident continues to fuel speculation about the nature of Noem and Lewandowski's relationship, which has been described as "the worst-kept secret in D.C."
