Israel has warned Lebanon it would launch devastating strikes targeting civilian infrastructure including Beirut airport if Hezbollah joins any U.S.-Iran conflict, according to two senior Lebanese officials. The warning was delivered indirectly, though neither Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office nor the Lebanese presidency has commented publicly.

This threat comes as Iran and the U.S. prepare for a third round of nuclear talks in Geneva amid rising tensions. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, who has pushed for Hezbollah's disarmament since taking office, urged the group not to drag Lebanon into "another adventure" following its devastating 2024 war with Israel.

Israel's warning reflects deep concerns about Hezbollah's stance in the regional standoff. The group's new leader, Naim Qassem, declared last month that Hezbollah is "not neutral" in the U.S.-Iran conflict and remains "targeted by potential aggression." The group fought Israel for months in 2023-2024 before Israel's offensive killed leader Hassan Nasrallah and thousands of fighters while destroying much of its arsenal. Since the ceasefire, Israeli strikes have killed around 400 people in Lebanon, according to Lebanese authorities, as Israel accuses Hezbollah of attempting to rearm despite claims the group respects the truce.
