A rare cold snap blanketed Florida on Tuesday, Feb. 24, with freeze warnings and frost advisories covering most of the state. Weather alerts extended as far south as Miami-Dade County, with 63 of Florida's 67 counties under some form of cold weather advisory.

Temperatures plunged into the 30s and 40s across the peninsula, with wind chills making conditions feel even colder. Pensacola recorded 32 degrees with a 27-degree wind chill, while Tallahassee hit 30 degrees. Even typically warm coastal areas like Miami and Naples saw temperatures in the low 40s.

The unusual winter weather prompted residents to bundle up and protect sensitive plants and pipes. Agricultural interests, particularly citrus growers, are monitoring conditions closely as prolonged freezing temperatures could damage crops. The National Weather Service continues to track the system, with updates available through local offices and text alert services.
