Czech President Petr Pavel announced that Ukraine has received 4.4 million rounds of large-calibre ammunition through a Czech-led initiative that pools resources from arms traders, defence firms, and international donors. The program, which Pavel strongly supports, sources 155mm artillery shells and other munitions globally for delivery to Ukrainian forces.

Launched amid Russia's ongoing invasion, the initiative has attracted funding from Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, and other nations. While the new Czech government under Prime Minister Andrej Babis' ANO party initially considered scrapping the program due to its inclusion of pro-Russian far-right elements, Pavel and allies successfully pressured continuation without Czech national funding.

NATO estimates show the initiative delivered nearly 2 million rounds last year, slightly exceeding the alliance's December projection of 1.8 million. With donors contributing billions of euros over two years, NATO officials note funding commitments currently stand at 1.4 billion euros against a 5 billion euro target, highlighting ongoing resource challenges for Ukraine's defence efforts.
