A 25-year-old Charlotte woman faces felony charges after allegedly striking a CMPD officer with her vehicle during a street takeover at a Harris Teeter parking lot. Tanaezah Michelle Austin was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government officer following the early morning incident on March 1.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to 911 calls around 3:25 a.m. reporting vehicles doing donuts in the parking lot at 4701 Smith Farm Road. When officers arrived, they encountered what they described as a street takeover and began clearing the lot. Court documents state that an officer approached Austin's black Kia Optima as she attempted to leave, but the vehicle accelerated, hitting him and causing him to roll over the hood.

The officer, who was in full uniform and giving verbal commands, managed to radio out the vehicle's license plate before being taken to the hospital for treatment. Austin was booked into Mecklenburg County jail on March 2 and released just before 3 a.m. on March 3 after posting a $3,000 bond.
