California's Yuba County has become home to the state's first robot-built neighborhood, where 4Dify deployed giant 3D printers to construct five concrete homes. The machines, costing $1.5 million each, use concrete as filament to build walls layer by layer, with the first 1,000-square-foot house taking 24 days to print.

As of February 13, 2026, 4Dify's inaugural 3D-printed home hit the market at $375,000, below Yuba County's median of $450,000 but commanding $375 per square foot versus the county median of $268. The company claims these homes offer superior durability - walls are bulletproof, fire-resistant, pest-proof, and mold-resistant, with founder Nan Lin asserting lower insurance rates compared to traditional construction.

The project follows similar initiatives like Icon's Wolf Ranch in Texas, which features 100 3D-printed homes and represents the world's largest such community. With over 200 3D-printed houses across five states and two countries, the technology promises reduced labor costs and material waste. However, whether homebuyers will embrace this construction method remains uncertain as the industry watches Yuba County's experiment unfold.
