A three-foot-long boa constrictor caused a stir in Columbia, Pennsylvania, when police discovered it slithering across a busy street. Raven Ridge Wildlife Center responded to the call, though they typically don't handle exotic species. The snake was safely contained under a garbage can weighted with a brick until a rehabilitator arrived.

Photos shared on Facebook showed the snake both in the road and later in a cage. The Forgotten Friends Reptile Sanctuary is now caring for the reptile while authorities search for its owner. Wildlife officials suspect the snake was either an escaped pet or deliberately released into the wild.

Wildlife experts warn that releasing exotic pets like boa constrictors can devastate local ecosystems. The center urged pet owners to surrender unwanted exotic animals to proper authorities rather than abandoning them. Invasive species pose serious threats to native wildlife and can create dangerous situations for both animals and humans.
