Bitcoin $140K Forecast: Goldman Sachs Alum's Liquidity Call

Raoul Pal, former Goldman Sachs executive, predicts Bitcoin could surge to $140,000 as liquidity conditions improve. His analysis suggests Bitcoin is currently trading at a "deep discount" relative to expanding global liquidity, with historical patterns showing such gaps close violently rather than gradually.

Pal identifies several converging macro factors that could trigger this repricing. Changes to bank regulations, particularly adjustments to the Enhanced Supplementary Leverage Ratio (ESLR), may allow banks to absorb more government debt without balance sheet constraints. This would give the US Treasury greater flexibility to monetize deficits. Additionally, Treasury General Account (TGA) dynamics and a weakening US dollar create a supportive backdrop for risk assets.

Despite improving conditions, Bitcoin has lagged due to the October 10 liquidation cascade that damaged market plumbing. Pal believes this structural overhang is now fading. He describes the potential acceleration phase as the "Banana Zone" - a nonlinear repricing driven by liquidity, improving growth, and renewed capital inflows. With liquidity already improving faster than markets are pricing in, Pal suggests the move to $140,000 may already be underway, representing a 106% increase from current levels.
