Bill Cosby will not testify at his upcoming civil rape trial, and according to his accuser, he won't even appear in court. Donna Motsinger, who accused Cosby of drugging and raping her in 1972, says the former TV star is skipping the proceedings "because he does not care to appear." The only time the jury will hear from Cosby will be through a previously recorded deposition.

Motsinger alleges Cosby assaulted her while she worked as a server at the Trident restaurant in Sausalito, California. In legal documents, she described being drugged with pills Cosby gave her, losing consciousness, and later waking up partially clothed with no memory of what happened. The case centers on Cosby's own testimony from a sealed November 2025 deposition where he admitted obtaining Quaaludes to give to women.

With Cosby declining to appear, his taped deposition becomes the centerpiece of the trial. His legal team argues the testimony has been taken out of context, claiming Quaaludes were widely used party drugs in the 1970s. Jury selection began Monday in Santa Monica, California, with nearly 30 women having filed sexual assault lawsuits against Cosby under lookback window laws.
