Video Amp laid off approximately 20% of its staff this week as the ad measurement platform responds to the rise of AI, a spokeswoman confirmed to the Wall Street Journal Leadership Institute. Between 50 and 60 employees were laid off, including Video Amp’s chief technology officer, according to people with knowledge of the layoffs.

The company will not refill the CT O role, one person said. “These were difficult decisions, but they reflect our long-standing approach of adapting early to major changes in the market,” the spokeswoman said in a statement.

“We believe AI is a major platform shift, and our view is that companies that adopt it quickly will benefit disproportionally. For Video Amp, that means continuing to invest in agentic software development and becoming an AI-powered media performance platform—aligning our organization, resources, and operating model to support that direction.”

The firm also emphasized that its focus will remain on agentic software development, positioning itself as a leader in AI-driven media performance measurement. By reducing headcount, Video Amp aims to reallocate talent toward higher‑growth AI initiatives while maintaining its core measurement capabilities. The spokeswoman noted that the restructuring will allow the company to accelerate its AI agenda without compromising service quality.
