PulteGroup reported a second‑quarter profit of $472 million, or $2.48 per share, down from $608 million, or $3.03 per share, a year earlier. The decline came as home‑building activity slowed, with closing volumes falling 8% to just under 7,000 units and the average sale price slipping 3% to $544,000. Revenue from home sales dropped 11% to $3.81 billion, while total revenue was 9.6% lower at $3.98 billion, still beating the consensus estimate of $3.94 billion.

Analysts surveyed by Fact Set had forecast earnings of $2.36 per share, so the actual result exceeded expectations despite the year‑over‑year drop. The company cited softer demand and higher mortgage rates as key pressures on both volume and pricing. Looking ahead, PulteGroup said it will focus on cost control and selective land acquisitions to navigate the challenging market.
