NXP Semiconductors reported a significant increase in its second-quarter profit, reaching $767 million, or $3.02 a share, a substantial rise from $445 million, or $1.75 a share, in the prior year. This performance exceeded Wall Street's expectations, driven by robust growth across all its end markets and geographical regions.

The company saw particular strength in demand from customers developing software-defined vehicles and physical AI applications. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $3.61, surpassing the $3.52 estimated by analysts polled by Fact Set. Despite the positive financial results, NXP's stock experienced a decline of 5.8% to $243.98 in after-hours trading on Tuesday, though it remained up 19% year-to-date at market close.
