Is 'Ted Lasso' a Leadership Masterclass?

I initially thought 'Ted Lasso' was overhyped, but I was wrong. The way Ted, played by Jason Sudeikis, lifts others up resonated with me immediately. I have watched all three seasons twice and believe you can learn a lot of leadership from the show.

During the Leadership Institute’s WSJ CEO Council Summit, the connection between the series and leadership was clear. One striking lesson comes from a scene where Ted plays darts against the smug Rupert Mannion. Ted acts as if he knows little about the game, while Rupert fails to ask anything beyond, “Do you like darts, Ted?”

As Ted makes a dramatic comeback, he speaks about being underestimated. He references a quote attributed to Walt Whitman: “be curious, not judgmental.” This sentiment has taken on a life of its own, illustrating how curiosity can overcome the tendency to belittle others.
