Heineken named Rafael Oliveira as its next chief executive officer, ending a leadership void that began in May. Oliveira takes over on October 1 for a four-year term. He replaces Dolf van den Brink, who exited the company after six years at the helm, leaving the global brewer without a permanent leader for several months.

Oliveira brings a deep background in the beverage sector, most recently leading coffee and tea group JDE Peet's. That company was acquired by Keurig Dr Pepper in a deal valued at $18 billion last summer. Before his time at JDE Peet's, he spent ten years at Kraft Heinz, giving him extensive experience in large-scale consumer goods management.

Supervisory board Chairman Peter Wennink stated the appointment aims to build on existing foundations for balanced growth. This move settles the top spot at one of the world's largest brewers. Oliveira's transition from the coffee industry to beer marks a shift in leadership strategy for the company as it seeks stability after a period of uncertainty.
