Harley-Davidson raised its full-year sales outlook on Thursday after reporting stronger-than-expected North American demand in the second quarter. The Milwaukee-based manufacturer said it now expects to sell more motorcycles this year than previously forecast, driven by resilient domestic ridership.

The company posted net income of $79.8 million for the three months ended June 30, down from $107.6 million a year earlier. Quarterly earnings of 75 cents a share exceeded the 64 cents analysts polled by FactSet had projected. Total revenue declined 5.9% to $1.23 billion, though that figure surpassed Wall Street models calling for $1.17 billion.

Global retail motorcycle sales edged up 0.5% to roughly 42,500 units, reflecting growth in North America offset by soft international results. The company attributed the mixed geographic performance to shifting consumer sentiment abroad while U.S. dealers reported steady traffic.

Harley-Davidson's revised guidance signals confidence in its core market despite ongoing macroeconomic headwinds. Investors responded positively to the beat on both top and bottom lines, with shares moving higher in premarket trading.
