Dubai’s DP World has announced plans to build two new maritime terminals on the United Arab Emirates’ eastern coast in Fujairah. The project, agreed in principle with the Fujairah Ports Authority under a 50‑year concession, will expand the operator’s logistics network and help diversify the country’s shipping routes.

The development will include a container and multipurpose terminal as well as a general‑cargo terminal, offering a range of services for international trade. By moving port operations off the congested Strait of Hormuz, the initiative aims to reduce the nation’s dependence on a single chokepoint.

Construction is slated to take 24 to 30 months, during which the new facilities will be built to accommodate increasing cargo volumes and enhance connectivity across the Gulf and beyond. This move underscores DP World’s commitment to expanding its footprint and enhancing maritime efficiency worldwide.
