Coinbase Global has reported a second consecutive quarterly loss as it navigates a challenging cryptocurrency market. The company announced a loss of $359.5 million, or $1.36 a share, for the second quarter, a stark contrast to the $1.43 billion profit it posted a year prior. This loss includes $209.5 million related to the diminished value of Coinbase's crypto asset investments.

Revenue experienced a significant decline, falling 19% to $1.22 billion, which fell short of analyst expectations of $1.29 billion. Coinbase attributed this revenue drop to a general weakness in the cryptocurrency market. The company highlighted that the overall crypto market capitalization decreased by 11%, and total spot trading volumes for cryptocurrencies dropped by 25% compared to the previous quarter.
