Judge Rukhsanah Singh found the Alabama plaintiffs firm engaged in unethical conduct by working with consultant James Conlan, who previously had access to J&J's privileged litigation strategy.

Beasley Allen had been pursuing ovarian cancer claims against J&J products while opposing the company's bankruptcy filing. The firm's collaboration with Conlan, who served as outside counsel to J&J, raised serious ethical concerns about the misuse of confidential information. This conduct prompted the court's decisive action.
