Anthropic, the AI startup behind Claude, is expected to tell investors it could generate over $30 trillion in potential revenue, surpassing Space X's $28.5 trillion estimate. The figure, revealed in a recent filing, dwarfs previous IPOs, with Uber citing a $6 trillion opportunity and We Work a $3 trillion market. Most of Anthropic's projection, $26.5 trillion, is attributed to artificial intelligence.

New York University finance professor Aswath Damodaran warned such numbers are "reaching the end of what's plausible." Anthropic's revenue more than doubled to $11.6 billion in the second quarter. To contextualize the valuation, the S&P 1500 technology companies generated $2.4 trillion in revenue last year. If realized, Anthropic could raise up to $100 billion and achieve a $2 trillion valuation, exceeding Space X's $86 billion raise and $1.77 trillion valuation.

The company plans to unveil IPO financial-disclosure documents in the coming weeks, potentially launching a public offering in September or early October.
