Unsealed Note Shows Epstein’s Repeated Phrases

A federal judge unsealed a handwritten note alleged to be a suicide message from Jeffrey Epstein written weeks before he was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell in August 2019. The document contains phrasing that mirrors earlier communications, prompting renewed scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding his death. Prosecutors have long maintained the medical examiner’s suicide ruling.

Investigators discovered a separate scrap of paper in the same cell that read “NO FUN!!,” echoing complaints Epstein penned about burnt food, insects and a locked shower. The phrase also appears in emails he sent over the years, where he expressed frustration with unmet expectations. Another line, “watcha want me to do — bust out cryin,” matches messages to his brother and close friends.

The New York Times, which has not authenticated the note, highlighted these textual overlaps in a recent piece by veteran reporter Steve Eder. While the similarity fuels speculation about Epstein’s state of mind, it does not alter the legal exposure of his estate, which continues to face billions in civil claims from victims. The unsealed note adds another layer to an already complex forensic narrative.
