Tupac Lawsuit Filed After 29 Years

Maurice Shakur, stepbrother of the late rapper Tupac, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Duane Keith Davis (Keffe D) nearly three decades after Tupac's 1996 murder. Davis faces murder charges in the case that had gone cold for years until his own words in interviews and 2019 memoir provided new evidence for investigators.

The Los Angeles County Superior Court complaint names 100 John Does as potential co-conspirators while seeking unspecified damages. Tupac was shot four times in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting after a Tyson boxing match and died at age 25. Davis now claims he wasn't in Vegas at the time despite previous admissions.

This lawsuit differs from Tupac's mother's 1997 wrongful death case that was dismissed. "For the first time in nearly 30 years, threads are starting to come together," the complaint states, as Davis awaits trial this August after pleading not guilty to the murder charges with a gang enhancement.
