David Handley, a regular beachgoer in Sydney, accidentally crashed a fashion show at Tamarama Beach during Australian Fashion Week. He was simply trying to get to his morning swim when he descended a stairwell that turned out to be the runway for the Commas menswear collection.

Halfway down, he realized he had interrupted the lead model's opening spot. "All the fashionistas at the bottom of the stairs are laughing their heads off," he said. "I've usurped the spot of the lead model." Rather than retreat, he waved to the crowd, did stretches, and dove into the waves, completely unbothered.

Video captured by onlookers quickly went viral. Some called it a quintessentially Australian moment. Handley, better known as the founding director of Sculpture by the Sea, clarified that what appeared to be an ankle monitor was actually a shark deterrent device. The brand Commas gained unexpected exposure ahead of Paris Men's Fashion Week.

Creative director Richard Jarman acknowledged the mishap brought more attention to the label. Handley has no intention of pursuing modeling but admits the moment brought some lighthearted fun to his routine.
