Jon Stewart couldn’t believe Senator Mitch McConnell’s health claims, after the Kentucky congressman’s office released a hospital image of him holding a newspaper dated that day. The office also issued a statement saying McConnell fell, had a mild pneumonia, and was cautious about aging.

Stewart responded in his monologue, joking that the photo proved McConnell was “the happiest boy in the hospital,” and showed photoshopped shots of him on Splash Mountain and atop the Empire State Building. He also mocked the idea that a Make‑A‑Wish child would wish for others to lose health insurance because of “f‑king policies.”

Megan Kelly criticized the photo on her show, questioning whether McConnell had actually been unconscious and needed CPR on June 14. She highlighted doubts about the senator’s denial of a heart attack.

Stewart concluded that the country should not be run by “old and frail” leaders, citing the death of 71 ոստիկան Lindsey Graham and noting that Graham was the sixth congressman to die in the 119th Congressивали. He warned that the system rewards incumbency, not competence.
