The move represents a significant shift for the abortion rights organization, which has traditionally focused on reproductive health services like birth control and STI testing.

Dr. Laura Dalton, chief medical officer, said the decision came from both financial necessity and patient demand. The Sacramento clinic is charging $9 per unit of Botox, substantially below the $10-$30 range at typical med spas. With appointments already fully booked, the affiliate plans to expand these services to three additional clinics by June.

This strategy mirrors broader trends in healthcare, where providers are adding cash-pay cosmetic services to supplement declining reimbursements. Tia Clinics CEO Felicity Yost noted that cosmetic procedures can serve as a gateway to preventive care. However, critics like beauty journalist Jessica DeFino argue that mixing medical care with beauty standards sends a problematic message about women's health needs.
