Following the buckling of two steel beams at a Manhattan high-rise last month, city officials initiated inspections at numerous construction sites throughout New York City. The Department of Buildings confirmed that these inspections were a precautionary measure after the incident at the Midtown site.

During these inspections, a total of 117 violations were identified across various projects. However, officials emphasized that none of these violations presented an immediate danger to public safety. The violations ranged from minor issues to more significant concerns that require correction.

The inspections aimed to ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations, especially after the unusual failure at the high-rise. The department stated that it is working with developers and contractors to address the identified violations promptly. The Department of Buildings has not released a specific timeline for when all violations must be rectified, but stressed that safety remains their top priority.
