Two wildfires burning east of Los Angeles have triggered massive evacuations, with 7,200 people forced to flee and another 39,000 under evacuation orders or warnings. The larger Bain fire, which started Tuesday morning near Jurupa Valley, has scorched 1,375 acres and injured four civilians, including three with smoke inhalation.

About 100 firefighters worked to contain the Bain fire, which remained just 10 percent contained by evening. Dry conditions and bamboo along the Santa Ana River accelerated the blaze toward eucalyptus groves. A second fire, the Verona fire near Hemet, grew to 439 acres and continued spreading Tuesday night.

The economic toll includes thousands of displaced residents, disrupted local businesses, and mounting firefighting costs. Insurance companies face significant claims from property damage, while the region's tourism and agriculture sectors may see temporary revenue losses. Emergency response expenses continue climbing as crews battle multiple fronts simultaneously.

These fires add to California's growing wildfire season burden, potentially straining state budgets already dealing with climate-related disasters. The insurance industry faces another costly quarter, with commercial and residential claims likely exceeding initial estimates.
