Kerr County Flooding Revives 2025 Trauma

Residents across Kerr County began cleanup Friday after another round of flooding Thursday, reviving anxiety from last year's deadly Fourth of July floods. Heavy rain caused the Guadalupe River to rise, sending floodwaters into Hunt, Ingram, and Kerrville. While some areas devastated in 2025 saw less damage, others flooded for the first time.

In Hunt, the Bumble Bee Hills neighborhood was hit again, this time by a nearby creek rather than the Guadalupe River. Resident Steven Sore described water flowing two-to-three inches deep into his home, though damage was less severe than July 2025. In Ingram, Little League fields destroyed last year escaped major damage. However, Kerrville neighborhoods that avoided flooding last year were inundated by runoff from surrounding hills overwhelming creeks and drainage.

Tevian Prohl described the psychological toll, saying runoff from hills flooded roads and neighborhoods that typically don't see high water. Despite emotional strain, neighbors again helped each other clean and rebuild. "We're not going to stop helping," Prohl said. "But it's one of those things that you just wonder, 'when's it gonna stop?'"
