Iran's judiciary announced the public hanging of two men, Abolfazl Sepahi and Amir-Hossein Safari, on Tuesday for charges related to anti-government protests. The executions reportedly took place in a square in Malekshahr, central Isfahan province, in front of a crowd.

Mizan Online, the judiciary's news website, stated the men were found guilty of "waging war against God" and "corruption on earth" for attacking police officers on January 8. This incident occurred as a protest movement, initially sparked by economic issues, evolved into broader anti-government demonstrations.

According to rights groups, Iran has been escalating executions. Amnesty International reports Iran conducts the second-highest number of executions globally, after China. The executions follow similar charges levied against two other men hanged in Isfahan province on July 19.
