Former Fort Bragg Worker Charged Over Classified Leak

The Justice Department indicted former Fort Bragg employee Courtney Williams on Wednesday, accusing her of passing classified national‑defense material to a journalist who later published a book and article. Williams, 40, served in a support role for the elite Delta Force unit from 2010‑2016 and held a top‑secret clearance. She faces up to 10 years in prison.

Prosecutors say the leaks occurred between 2022 and 2025, after Williams left the Army. Through phone calls, texts and a thumb drive, she allegedly transmitted photographs, notes and tactical details about Delta Force’s tradecraft. The material underpinned a Politico Magazine feature by Seth Harp and his book “The Fort Bragg Cartel,” which amplified claims of sexual harassment and gender discrimination within the unit.

The FBI director Kash Patel used social media to praise the arrest, warning potential leakers of swift federal prosecution. Journalist Seth Harp denounced the charges, calling Williams a “courageous whistle‑blower” and suggesting the case aims to silence criticism of Delta Force. With a preliminary hearing set for April 13, the case underscores the serious tension between national‑security enforcement and whistle‑blower advocacy.
