A 15-year-old boy clung to an overturned skiff for days in the Bering Sea off Alaska after it capsized, killing his older brother and a cousin. The teenager, **Derek Parker Aghnaanga**, had set sail Friday with his brother **Sidney Kulowiyi**, 35, to catch halibut. When they didn't return Sunday to Savoonga, the U.S. Coast Guard launched a search.

Dense fog delayed water rescuers until Monday. A Coast Guard HC-130 aircraft spotted Derek atop the overturned skiff around **10:30 a.m.**, about four miles from St. Lawrence Island. The crew of the **F/V Northwest Explorer**, a fishing vessel 39 miles away, was enlisted.

Captain **Adam White** said it took four hours to reach Derek, following red flares. Derek, wearing a bright yellow jacket, was too weak to swim to inflatable rafts, so the crew threw him a rope and pulled him aboard. He had moderate hypothermia.

The crew also recovered the bodies of his brother and cousin. The Northwest Explorer docked in Nome, Alaska, on Tuesday. Derek's mother, **Vina Kulowiyi**, called him a "survivor" on Facebook.
