Bernie Sanders Builds Progressive Network

Bernie Sanders has endorsed more than 60 candidates for local and state offices across 20 states, building his progressive legacy as he approaches age 84. The Vermont independent aims to reshape the Democratic Party by supporting like-minded allies at every level of government. His endorsement list represents the most extensive down-ballot push since 2020, targeting state legislatures where progressives can implement policy changes.

Sanders specifically opposes the artificial intelligence industry's influence, citing plans to spend heavily on elections behind controversial data centers like Project Jupiter, which involves up to $165 billion in bonds that could increase energy prices for everyday Americans. He frames his endorsements as both opposition to Trump and a challenge to the Democratic establishment dominated by big-money interests.

His slate includes diverse candidates such as union president Dave Cantrell in West Virginia, nurse India May in Iowa, and Daisy Maldonado opposing the massive data center in New Mexico. Sanders takes pride in backing former campaign organizers now in positions of power, including Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, to build "a grass-roots, multiracial, working-class party that will stand up to the oligarchs."
