Air Canada Express Flight 8646 collided with a Port Authority fire truck at LaGuardia Airport late Sunday, killing both pilots and injuring dozens. The crash occurred as the CRJ-900 jet, operated by Jazz Aviation LP, was landing in rain-slicked conditions. Passengers described a sudden jolt during descent, followed by chaos as the plane’s nose sheared off and emergency slides failed to deploy.

Survivors, including nurse Rebecca Liquori, recounted scrambling over wings to escape after the fire truck, responding to an odor report on another flight, struck the aircraft. Forty-one people were hospitalized, with 32 released by Monday. The incident marked LaGuardia’s first fatal crash since 1992.
