Vestas Shares Surge on Wind Power Outlook

Shares in Danish wind turbine producer Vestas jumped over 20% after strong Q2 earnings and a bullish forecast, reviving hopes for the green energy sector. The stock, which had lost ground amid rising costs and political headwinds, is now up more than 150% from its April 2025 low. Smaller German rival Nordex has also seen strong gains, tripling since early last year.

European governments are strengthening support for wind energy through guaranteed pricing mechanisms and successful auctions, particularly in the UK, Germany, and France. However, the US outlook remains uncertain due to policy shifts under the Trump administration, which has moved to phase out green energy tax credits introduced by Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.

Despite challenges, global demand for wind power is growing. China continues to lead in installations and has announced ambitious expansion plans. Analysts project a 65% increase in global wind generation by 2030. European manufacturers face stiff competition from Chinese producers but are seeking consolidation to remain competitive.
