The UK government will spend £1.3bn on infrastructure and transport to support Comcast's Universal theme park in Bedford. This represents one of the largest tourism investments in British history, with Comcast committing £5bn to build the complex. The resort is expected to become the UK's most popular tourist attraction, generating £50bn in economic benefits by 2055.

The government funding includes a £400mn grant from the Exceptional Regional Growth Fund and £438mn from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport for community infrastructure. The Department for Transport will invest £474mn in road and rail upgrades. During construction, the project will employ 20,000 people, with 8,000 permanent positions after its 2031 opening.

Comcast selected Bedford from other European locations for its first Universal park outside the US. Chancellor Rachel Reeves highlighted the deal's significance, noting it will "unlock nearly £50bn of economic growth" and create jobs across multiple sectors. The project complements the Oxford-Cambridge Arc development strategy, aiming to boost the stalling British economy.
