Uber Adds Hotel Bookings via Expedia, Expanding Its Super‑App Vision

Uber now lets riders book hotel stays through its app, partnering with Expedia Group. The move follows the company’s expansion into food, grocery and freight delivery. In the United States, users can reserve rooms at places like New York’s Park Lane Hotel, while Uber One members receive 20 percent discounts on select properties.

Dara Khosrowshahi says the hotel feature is a natural extension of Uber’s “super app” ambition, adding another service that ties travel and mobility. Expedia CEO Ariane Gorin views the partnership as a win‑win, giving its 700,000‑property portfolio exposure to a massive ride‑hailing user base and allows hotels to attract new customers and generate higher occupancy rates worldwide as a strategic benefit.

Uber One subscribers also gain Uber credits usable for rides, tightening the ecosystem. The deal follows recent FTC scrutiny over subscription terms and lawsuits tied to driver safety, underscoring Uber’s push for diversification. By integrating booking and transport, Uber aims to lock in travelers before they book, cementing its position in the travel‑tech market for long‑term growth and revenue streams.
