Open AI accuses Apple of launching a “careless, aggressive and oddly personal lawsuit” after the iPhone maker claimed the AI start‑up stole top‑secret information. The Chat GPT maker wrote on Monday that it “does not have, nor want, any of their trade secrets,” and accused Apple of making vague accusations.

The dispute began last month when Apple sued Open AI for allegedly stealing hardware designs for its own AI‑focused consumer devices. Both firms are encroaching on each other’s territory—Open AI is venturing into consumer products while Apple partners with Google LLC to revamp its Siri voice assistant. The relationship soured after Open AI acquired the design studio founded by former Apple chief Sir Jony Ive and hired many Apple employees.

Apple alleges that former employees Chang Liu and Tang Tan accessed its trade secrets after leaving the company. Open AI denies the claims, saying Apple’s lawyers misidentified the wrong person and that it had no confidential information. Apple seeks a preliminary injunction and deposition order, while Open AI calls the lawsuit “oddly personal” and unsubstantiated.

Apple has not yet responded to a request for comment.
