Leicester City's Thai owners, King Power, are reportedly exploring the sale of the football club. The travel and retail group, which acquired the club in 2010, has hired investment bankers at Citigroup to seek potential buyers.

Under King Power's ownership, Leicester City achieved remarkable success, famously winning the Premier League title in 2016 under manager Claudio Ranieri. However, recent years have seen a downturn, with the club relegated to League One following financial scrutiny and a six-point deduction for breaching spending rules. Accounts revealed a £71.1mn loss for the 2024-25 season.

The potential sale comes as the broader market for top-flight football club takeovers has slowed. King Power's core business has also been impacted by decreased tourism. The club's plans for stadium expansion are currently on hold.
