Musk's Legal Team Seeks Judge Recusal Over LinkedIn 'Like'

Elon Musk's legal team has asked a Delaware judge to recuse herself from cases involving the billionaire, citing her account's 'like' of a LinkedIn post celebrating his recent legal defeat in California. Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick acknowledged liking the post but claimed it was either accidental or a gesture of support, not bias.

Musk's law firm Quinn Emanuel argued the 'inflammatory' reaction created 'a perception of bias' that warrants recusal. The LinkedIn post celebrated a federal jury's finding that Musk defrauded Twitter investors, potentially exposing him to billions in damages. A jury consultant involved in the case had congratulated the plaintiff's lawyers, thanking Musk's team for their help.

This marks the latest chapter in Musk's contentious relationship with Delaware courts. McCormick previously invalidated Musk's $56 billion Tesla pay package, citing board independence issues, though the Delaware Supreme Court later reinstated it. The billionaire has since moved Tesla's incorporation from Delaware to Texas and criticized the state's judicial system. McCormick will consider the recusal request while overseeing ongoing disputes, including a lawsuit over excessive director compensation that resulted in a $900 million settlement.
