Britain will become the first foreign country to gain access to Ukraine’s vast battlefield data platform, Avengers Labs, under a new AI partnership signed by Prime Minister Andy Burnham and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. The database contains millions of observations from thousands of cameras and sensors across Ukrainian battlefields, including over 100,000 drone video streams processed monthly, with about 70% of enemy targets detected. The data, drawn from Ukraine’s Universal Military Dataset, is used to train AI models to identify tanks, drones, and artillery, supporting Ukraine’s development of autonomous weapons.

Burnham emphasized continued UK support for Kyiv despite Russian threats, calling the deal a fusion of Ukraine’s combat experience and Britain’s AI ecosystem. The agreement follows Ukraine’s earlier offer in March to share the dataset internationally, with Ukraine seeking faster progress in autonomous systems in return. Until now, the data was shared only with domestic Ukrainian companies, giving them an edge over foreign rivals relying on synthetic data.

Britain is particularly interested in acoustic sensor data for detecting incoming Russian drones, which could enhance defence of military infrastructure. The partnership is part of a broader technology swap, including MBDA’s release of classified missile component data to support assembly lines in Ukraine.
